Hi, my name is Charlie Hardesty. I have been involved in athletics and fitness nearly all my life and it's had an enormous impact on my life. Playing team sports at an early age taught me to work with others and to share in victory and defeat, and to learn from my mistakes. After graduating from college and four years of military service in the U.S. Navy, I spent 19 years as a senior mechanical designer. It was at this time that I joined my first gym and developed a passion for health and fitness.
At work and at the gym, people began to ask me questions about training and nutrition. Friends at the gym wanted to train with me. I began reading and studying as much as I could to learn more. It was then, in 1993, I decided to start my second career as a personal trainer and launch a private personal training studio. To my knowledge, it was the first of its kind in the area.
I am certified as a personal trainer by the American Council on Exercise (ACE). This certification requires continuing education in the field of health and fitness to maintain credentials and allows me to stay current on new research findings and teaching methods. I am also a member of IDEA - Health and Fitness Association and a member of the American College of Sports Medicine.
